Of being a tronix-ite....

From mighty missiles to space satellites, from LCD screens in your drawing rooms to microwaves in your kitchen, from smart phones/i-phones you show off to laptops/tablets you work on, from iPods/camera you’re crazy about to internet you can’t live without it is we who rule your world- a set of technology driven, gadget friendly people –THE TRONIXITES or officially called as ‘Bachelors of Technology in ECE’.

Credit goes to our forefathers (from Franklin to Marconi to Shockley) for being so innovative, intelligent and progressive. Who would have predicted that someday the inventions of both Edison and Graham Bell would be fused together to give society something that it would use in order to speed up communication? Who would have thought that mankind would soon ditch its dependence on wired telegraphs and instead opt to use Skype to communicate with friends and families abroad? ALL HAIL ELECTRONICS. Wars and weaponry, space explorations, business and finance sector, power corporations, education system and even entertainment industry got revolutionized with the very advent of it.

Coming back to ECE as an engineering trade you gotta know-it is the most awesomest, wowest and coolest branch ever. A perfect blend of technology and fun, enough to drive you crazy. Gone are the times of ‘do aur do panch’. Tronixites work to let 10+10=1010 ( read as 2 plus 2 equals 10). Yes we make miracles happen-Sophisticated Robots, Flying cars, Miniature satellites,iPads; the list is endless.They often say ‘Necessity is the mother of invention’. But we work the other way round. Invent some cool gadget and make people addicted to it. As simple as that! ECE is a mishmash of various other streams with its course including Computer Science subjects (like Data Structures &Networking), Electrical Engineering subjects(like Power Electronics and Control Systems) plus a huge syllabus of its own. And we study it ALL! Phodu naa? Upar se humanities department ko bhi jhelna padta hai. OK, I admit-we are the phodu-est of all (Yes you can definitely pat our back :P).

Truly speaking during the freshman’s year we heard certain non-euphonic facts regarding this branch-
1. It is the toughest branch. Bauhat padhna padta hai.
2. You need to attend a lot of classes. No mass bunks.
3. Job nahi lagti

And I was like-‘Kisne kaha tha mech se slide karwa ke ece le lo…ab bhukto :|’. Howbeit from time to time we realized that 1, 2 and 3 are mere myths. Regarding Point no 1 every individual has his or her own perspective. But you can always be a ‘Decent pointer someone’ by studying just few hours before the exam (like I do). Point no 2-ahem ahem; you gotta be kidding me. Mass bunk karna toh hamari ragon mein hai. Trust me you’ll be bored of not-attending-classes and your non-tronix friends will be jealous of you for the same. Point no 3- we again proved it wrong and had ‘faad’ placements this year. We made it not only to the core companies of electrical and electronics but also to software and business companies pretty well. On the top of it all A FACEBOOK employee is our batchie. Do I need to say more?

This post couldn’t be completed without special mention to EL-3. A combo of naughtiest of guys and cutest of girls it is the most awesome batch ever. Copying is their best policy. Seldom did their circuits worked. They believe that Mass bunk is their birth right and have inspired EL-1 and EL-2 for the same. Nevertheless they are the most todu-faadu people in the whole batch. :P

I’m telling you, no need to tell that ECE IS UNDOUBTEDLY THE BEST. We love tronix and proudly boast of being a part of 2k12 batch. We neither studied loads like CS people nor did we attended all classes like trical or mech. We had unlimited fun, did all sorts of pagalpanti and still bagged the best of jobs. Not only this we were equally into culturals and sports. Talent hai boss.We simply rock. Yeah, E.C.E ROCKS (koi doubt mat rakhna).

To Engineer is human, to be a tronixite-divine! :P

108 Things I'll remember about MNNIT :D

1. First day @College: Excitement at its peak
2. The whole campus: GS,GW,FN,SEW,LH,NLH including all the halls, roof tops, terrace and stairs; well actually the gala time we had there!
3. Swagat 2K8 : Independence day!
4. Flying aeroplanes in class infront of the teacher: Hilarious 1st year memory
5. Get-togethers with seniors
6. Teeping/Taaping EG sheets
7. Successful massbunks in front of the teacher :P
8. Unsuccessful massbunks due to some attendance-addicted creatures (no offence)
9. Massbunk coordinators and the zaddozehad they had to do :P
10. Talking/Passing chits comfortably in class that too by being on 1st/2nd bench
11. Laughing on a matka’s gestures on his face and he asking “Aap log mere upar hans kyun rahe hain” :P
12. Your name wrongly pronounced by the teacher. Hell irritating man!!
13. The moment when a teacher’s mobile rings which has some Akshay-kumar/Govinda type of ringtone
14. Entering 10-25 minutes late into the class and still getting an entry :P. What a pride feeling, no?
15. Giving names to professors/batch mates; the list is way too large!
16. The moment when teacher says “Ye mujhe bhi nahi aata” :P
17. Sleeping in class with eyes wide open :Yawnnnn
18. Nodding to the teacher as if you’re really getting what’s actually going on: We’’re just too good at it!
19. When a teacher cracks a PJ and nobody laughs
20. Getting a secret pleasure when a teacher walks out of the class - after blasting the whole class on discipline
21. Getting branded as "the most indisciplined and naa padhne waali branch" by the entire faculty
22. Copying Practical file/Assignments just few minutes before the deadline
23. Enjoying the window-view when other members of your group are busy doing the practical :D
24. Manipulating the readings of an experiment to get the proper graph :P. Seldom did our “sircute”(read ‘circuit’) worked.
25. Vacants :blessings
26. Classes being cancelled :blessing in disguise
27. Cursing the guy who asks doubts
28. Last five minutes of a ridiculously boring lecture
29. Cursing the professor who continues teaching after the allotted time
30. Rushing to the water cooler after every lecture
31. Getting an SGPA of 9 when you are actually expecting 7 :) or vice versa :X
32. That ‘rich historical text’ engraved on benches/tables
33. Scribbling in your notes copy everything apart from what is being taught; from cartoons to poems
34. Photo-state shops during exam time (Engineering would not have been this easy without a Xerox machine :P)
35. Getting through a subject while not attending even its single class :P. You’ll be surprised to know that there were others who attended the class but couldn’t get through. *evil grin *
36. Making new theories in viva-voce and then being addressed with ‘honorable titles’ by our more-so-honorable professors :P
37. Cheating in exams-both karna and karana :P
38. Eating Chocolates/Polo/Centrefresh in class and dividing it into as many parts as the no. of chatore’s around
39. Participating in tech-fest and losing all :P
40. Participating in cultural-fest and winning some :D
41. Coordinating an event
42. Tapra-Bun Makhhan and kulhad mein adrak waali chai

My first day at college

It was Monday, the 20th of July,2008 ,8:50 AM, when with the proud feeling of a budding Engineer I first reached the territory of Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology,Allahabad(M-N-N-I-T).My stomach was spinning in circles.That college-waali-feeling was sprouting up.All sort of how,what and when's were hammering my empty head (tin-tin-tin-in) which was absolutely idle since the past 84 days.

 After parking my scooty ,I headed towards the Dean Academic Office to enquire about the schedule of I'st semester students(MECHANICAL ENGINEERING in particular).There I met another girl who was also doing the same. There were exactly three similarities between us. First, we both were localite ,second we both were anxious and third both of us were in suits(no need to tell, why ? :P).Well, after a minute of our interaction a person from the office  informed us that they have not yet received the new schedule and  directed us to the Main Building(where the classes were to be held). We hastened our steps  for it was already 9:00 by then.
